So, hello there! I suppose you're wondering what this blog is about. Well, if you haven't already looked at the description, that is. (You probably have, so this post is probably useless. Oh well.) Even though "fashion" is the first word that appears under the title, this blog most likely won't focus on fashion very often. The worldbuilding aspect is what's going to come into play most frequently!
So, who am I? I'm a Christian teen, and a writer who worldbuilds more than I actually write. I also wear a certain, frilly style of Japanese street fashion known as sweet lolita. (That's the "frills" part of the blog title, wink wink.) Hopefully, this blog will help me develop my writing skills so I actually finish one of the many, many, MANY stories I have going on right now. The one I'm working on now is called The Witchward, and the outline is almost complete! That's shocking in two ways for me, believe it or not. The first way is that I never finish outlines, and the second is that I never write up plot outlines in general. I've considered myself a pantser, that is, a seat-of-the-pants writer, for as long as I've been writing. (Which is a pretty long time. I've been writing awful stories since I was three, and they've only gotten tiny bits better as the years have gone by. Believe me, I'll be posting 'critique' of some of my old writing here!) But now I'm not sure I am a pantser, since I never finish anything I write purely because I don't know where the story is headed.
Back to The Witchward! Since I'm going to talk about it a bunch, and probably do some character interview type things, I'd better introduce it to you. Reader, Witchward. Witchward, Reader. You two play nice now, you hear?
Just kidding.
The Witchward is set in the fairytale world of Rocosia, which I'll also be talking a ton about. Rocosia is a place where magic is restricted to special forests set aside by the High God Dante and his sister Alza, who control white and black magic respectively. Magnolia lives in a Lost Forest, Alza's domain, with her mentor, the witch Sorrel. She's beautiful, powerful, and cunning: everything Magnolia wants to be. Especially the former. But then, a little girl arrives on the witch's doorstep: Dantress, an eleven-year-overdue payment for a spell Sorrel cast long, long ago. Dantress isn't happy with her new position as "servant," and Sorrel isn't pleased with the girl's impudence. So, the girl is turned into a rabbit. Magnolia must save Dantress from her cruel punishment by finding an Enchanted Forest, all while an angry witch is hot on their trail.
Ok, so that's not the best back cover blurb. But hey, it's a start. The story won't be done for a long time, anyhow, so the blurb will be dealt with in due time.
So, onto things I'm planning to do!
♛ God features! There are a lot of lower gods (which are more like Catholic saints, really) in the Rocosian pantheon. I'd love to give them their own spotlighted posts, which will hopefully be interesting.
♛ Worldbuilding "advice"! Basically, telling how I do things. That's why it's in quotation marks. But hey, maybe you'll find it helpful? (Also, isn't most advice heavily opinionated?)
♛ Character interviews! Ok, they won't really be formatted like interviews, but they'll still be my characters talking about themselves. I actually have one for Magnolia already, so that may be my next post.
♛ Rocosia stuff! Sharing my world with you guys, because why not? This one's pretty self explanatory.
♛ Previews of my writing! Again, pretty self explanatory.
So, that's basically it for this post. Just wanted to give a brief little overview of what's going to happen around here! I hope you'll enjoy my little corner of the internet, and maybe get something out of it.
Signing off,
Austin
